EVK is use for LV1000&LV3000 test, EVK interface is RS232 [ also has USB, but we are not offer USB cable],coz LV1000&LV3000 interface is TTL232, just a 12 PIN cable, so need an EVK to make the interface to RS232 [ or USB], of cause if you know how to connect with your product by 12 PIN, you'll not need to buy the EVK, if you has any questions please feel free to contact me, I'll try my best to help you, thank you.
