Single layer rabbit cage

Breeding rabbits in developed countries and regions (such as the United States) mostly use single-layer hanging rabbit cages.
Double layer rabbit cage
The upper and lower horizontal planes of the rabbit cage are assembled and arranged by using the fixed bracket. Compared with the single-layer rabbit cage, the stocking density is increased, and the management is convenient.
Multi-layer rabbit cage
It is assembled and arranged by three or more layers of cages. The breeding density is high, the house utilization rate is high, and the construction cost of the house required for a unit of meat rabbit is small. However, there are too many layers, the environmental conditions (such as temperature and light) of the uppermost layer and the lowermost layer are quite different, the operation is inconvenient, the ventilation and light are not good, and the indoor hygiene is difficult to maintain. Overlapping rabbit cage
The upper and lower layers of cages are completely overlapped, and there are dung bearing boards between the layers, generally 2-3 layers. The utilization rate of the rabbit house is high, and the stocking density per unit area is high. But the number of overlapping layers should not be too much, preferably 2-3 layers. The ventilation and light transmission in the house is poor, and the temperature and illumination of the upper and lower layers of the rabbit cage are uneven.
Full Ladder Rabbit Cage
When the rabbit cages are assembled and arranged, the upper and lower cages are completely staggered, and the feces fall directly into the feces and urine ditch under the cages, without a feces-bearing board. The stocking density is high, the ventilation and light transmission are good, and the observation is convenient. Because the layers are completely staggered, the longitudinal distance between the layers is large, and the management of the upper cage is inconvenient. At the same time, it is also difficult to clear the feces. Therefore, the fully stepped rabbit cage is most suitable for two-tier arrangement and mechanized operation.
Half step rabbit cage
The upper and lower rabbit cages are partially overlapped, and a dung board is provided at the overlap. Because the longitudinal distance between rabbit cages is shortened, the upper cage is easy to observe and manage. Compared with the fully stepped rabbit cage, the stocking density is higher, and the utilization rate of the rabbit house is higher. It is a form between the full ladder and overlapping rabbit cages, which can be operated manually or mechanized.
Types of rabbit cage materials
Due to differences in ecological conditions, economic levels, rabbit-raising habits and production scales, the materials used to build rabbit cages are also different.
1. Cement prefabricated rabbit cage
Cement prefabricated rabbit cages, the side walls, back walls and dung bearing boards of this kind of rabbit cages are assembled with cement prefabricated parts, with bamboo cage bottom plate and metal or wooden cage door. The main advantages are corrosion resistance, bite resistance, suitable for various poisoning methods, strong and durable, and low cost. The disadvantage is that the ventilation and heat insulation performance is poor, and it is difficult to move.
2. Brick and stone rabbit cages
It is made of bricks, stones, cement or lime, which is widely used in outdoor rabbit breeding in southern my country. It plays the role of combining cages and houses, and generally builds 2 to 3 floors. The main advantages are convenient materials, low cost, corrosion resistance, bite resistance, animal damage prevention, good heat preservation and heat insulation. The disadvantage is that the ventilation performance is poor, and it is not easy to completely carry the poison.
3. Bamboo (wooden) rabbit cage
In mountainous areas where bamboo and wood are more convenient to use and the number of rabbits is less, bamboo and wood rabbit cages can be used. The main advantages are that local materials can be obtained, the price is low, the use is convenient, the mobility is strong, and it is beneficial to ventilation, moisture and maintenance, and the heat insulation performance is good. The disadvantage is that it is easy to rot, it is not resistant to biting, it is difficult to thoroughly disinfect, and it is not suitable for long-term use.
4. Golden net rabbit cage
Generally, it is welded by galvanized cold-drawn steel wire, which is suitable for factory raising rabbits and breeding rabbits. The main advantages are ventilation and light transmission, bite resistance, easy disinfection, and convenient use. The disadvantage is that it is easy to rust and the cost is high. If there is no galvanized layer, the corrosion will be more serious and pollute. Rabbit fur can easily cause foot dermatitis, so it is only suitable for indoor rabbits or warmer areas.
5. Full plastic rabbit cage
Assembled from plastic parts, it can also be molded in one go. The main advantages are reasonable structure, convenient disassembly and assembly, easy cleaning and disinfection, good corrosion resistance, and low incidence of foot wallets. The disadvantage is that the cost is high; it is not resistant to chewing, the plastic is easy to age, and it can only be sterilized with reed liquid, so it is not very common to use.
Installation of the rabbit cage
The design of rabbit cages should generally conform to the biological characteristics of rabbits, with low cost, durability, and easy operation and management. The specifications of the rabbit cage and the size of the rabbit cage should be determined according to the strain type, gender, and age of the long-haired rabbit. Generally, the body length of the breeding rabbit is used as the standard, the cage length is 1.5 to 2.0 times the body length, the cage width is 1.3 to 1.5 times the body length, and the cage height is 0.8 to 1.2 times the body length. The size should be based on the principle that the long-haired rabbit can move freely in the cage and is easy to operate and manage.
Drinking fountain installation
The automatic drinking fountain is installed on the backboard, and the water pipes are parallel to the outside of the board (the water pipes cannot be caught or bitten by rabbits). If you make your own drinking fountain, you should hang it on the front door so that you can observe the water level and replenish water in time.
Cartridge installation
The material box is preferably made as a plug-in type. It can make the rabbit's head protrude from the reinforced door when eating, and it will not pick up the material, and it is also convenient for manual feeding. The material box can also be placed in the door, but it must be kept at a certain height to prevent rabbits from picking up the material.
Avoid metal cages
Most of the metal cages are made of cold-drawn steel wire and galvanized, which brings four problems. One is that it is easy to rust, and it will be eliminated in a few years. In the long run, the cost is relatively high. The second is that the bottom of the tool cage is fixed as a whole, and it is difficult to clean it once the coarse material and feces stick to it. The 3rd, front and back bottom during installation, fixing, changing clothes are very inconvenient as supporting the bottom with steel bars.
